Top 10 Disney Moments - Number 3

Is it okay to have a list within a list that's not necessarily related to the list it is embedded in?

Here are some best of moments that will stand out in my mind, and do not have accompanying pictures.

a) Best Moment when you are not supposed to laugh but it is really hard not to - Derek and Scott get bit by fire ants on our beach. Apparently it stings.

b) Best Quote - On the biggest family raft ride in North America Derek calmly stating that "This is the worst ride of my entire life."

c) Best Beverage - Pina Colavas

d) Best Glad it wasn't my kid moment - girl steps on baby duck - it's not all magic at Disney

e) Best Worst Parenting Moment - becoming that parent and making Mitchell go on the Star Tours ride (in my defense - he liked it last year)

Top 10 Disney Moments - Number 4

Near the end of the week, we discovered that we could see the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach at our hotel. Despite a little drizzle, we went down to watch the last two nights of the trip and had the little beach by our hotel building pretty much to ourselves. The fireworks were spectacular and it was the perfect spot to watch, since our kids don't like the noise of the fireworks when we are too close to them. I always want to remember being cuddled up on the loungers watching the fireworks together.

One night we used 2 dining credits each to eat at Artist Point, a signature dining restaurant. I was a little worried about taking the kids to a fine dining restaurant but it is Disney after all, kids should be expected to be everywhere.

The evening started out ominously as a huge storm rolled in. Lightning and thunder surrounded us, as we made our way by boat to the Wilderness Lodge. Once we arrived, the kids pretended to be ghosts in their rain ponchos while we tried to wait out a downpour in a shelter.

There were very few children in the restaurant, but we sat in the corner out of the way, and with a very nice view of the waterfalls in the garden. In the restaurant Mitchell was on his BEST behaviour, AND he ate and ate. The kid ate an entire steak, which was very surprising. The food was pretty yummy - I had bison, Scott and Mitchell had steak and Derek had chicken. Derek was very wore out, since our dinner was late in the evening after a full day of Disney. He was trying to get comfortable in his chair and was pretty antsy, so we asked for dessert to go. The kids dessert was neat - it was a white chocolate puzzle with little dobs of coloured icing that the kids could paint on.

Overall fine dining was a success and it was a nice evening out as a family.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the ride "It's a Small World". I love the song, all the different rooms you float through, waving to the people in the restaurant, and the looks of amazement on my kids faces (not to mention it's also cool, temperature wise, and has short line ups). We rode it twice and I would have gone back for more.

Top 10 Disney Moments - Number 8

The kids really like the safari ride at the Animal Kingdom. They like looking at the animals but their favourite part is the radio calls between our driver and the security office. They talk about where the animals have been spotted, and the ride ends with the security office asking us to help chase down some poachers. There's gunshots and a chase through the bush, when the poachers are successfully captured and the baby elephant is freed.

My favourite part of the ride was when she said to cross your fingers when we went over a "rickety" bridge. Both boys had their fingers crossed, in their own ways, until the end of the ride.
