Top 10 Disney Moments - Number 9

Thanks to Paul, we checked out the Disney animation studio. It starts with a short video presentation about how characters are created and then you get to go into another room and draw a Disney Character with an artist. The artist draws the image, in our case Mickey Mouse, step by step and his movements are projected onto a big screen at the front of the room. In addition to being air conditioned, a big plus in Florida's August heat, it was a lot of fun. We all tried our best, though it's safe to say we are not artists. Derek kept saying "I'm not very good at this" but he did not too bad on his second try with a little help from Dad. Mitchell did a good job following instructions and his picture was a recognizable Mickey (although maybe a Tim Burton version). Thanks Paul for sending us to that corner of the park, we completely missed it last year.

Top 10 Disney Moments - Number 10

Rather than a travelogue entry I've decided to post my 10 favourite Disney moments. Here is number 10.

This year we stayed at the Polynesian resort which is right on the monorail and SUPER convenient. So even though we had gotten into Florida at 3:00 (in the car on the way to the airport) and were travel weary, it was just as easy to go to the Magic Kingdom for dinner as it was to eat at our hotel (and the counter service food there was MUCH better). Everybody was in a good mood, we knocked off a couple of rides, and Derek got some Mickey Mouse stickers which he put on his arms. Why? That is his preferred sticker location, which looks great in pictures and they come off so easily (sarcasm- in case you wondered). Still seeing him hanging on the rails at the speedtrack with his Mickey stickers is one of the images that will stay with me after this trip.

August Recap

I have to start with Mitchell's birthday, which is actually in July, but the true celebration occurred in August. He had a friend party at TJ Stables and then came home for the family dinner. A fun day.

Much of August was taken up with baseball camp. Mitchell really enjoyed it and wants to play next year. Derek liked playing in the dirt.

We walked with dinosaurs, which was amazing and loud...

Scott and I escaped to Kingston for a couple of days. I finally found a beer that I like and we wandered the tunnels of Fort Henry at sunset (scary).

We also went to Disney... but that's a post for another day (maybe in December).
