Raindrops keep falling...

Derek followed our trip to Great Wolf with a nasty ear infection. It started with a night of crying and a fever, followed by discharge and a doctor's visit, finally Derek was prescribed some antibiotic meds and ear drops. Boy did he hate the ear drops! In fact that easiest way to get him to take his liquid med was to ask if he wanted us to put it in his ear or mouth - instantly his mouth would open. It even worked a couple of days ago for some gravol medicine, even though he hasn't had the ear drops for at least 2 weeks. He's looked like the "hear no evil" monkey for much of the last month any time we've come near him, and on his way to bed he's usually saying "no raindrops, no raindrops". I hope it's a long time before he needs ear drops again!

Great Wolf

Last weekend we went to Great Wolf Lodge. What a place! The kids had a great time. I was worried that they would be too young to really enjoy the facilities but I was wrong. They have a big wading area with 4 slides that Mitchell could go down solo and a couple for Derek too. Derek liked the wave pool, and thanks to our friends watching Derek, we (Mitchell, Scott and I) were able to ride the Wooly Mammoth raft ride. Throw in a lazy river, regular pool and water fort and the kids were in heaven. They were especially entertained by the image outside the entrace to the pool area that would ripple and make splashing sounds when you walked on it.

There was also an arcade and storytime in the lobby which included an animatronic show of various wildlife characters. Friday night we lucked out with a reading of the Hockey Sweater by the author himself.

The only drawback to the rooms was that they didn't get CBC (??!!??) - funny how they could get it in the bar and that's where Scott spent Saturday night watching the game.

Mitchell's favourite part of the weekend was seeing Jocelyn and Cameron. I wished that I had the chance to visit more with my friends that were there - but I guess this trip wasn't all about me :I
