It's only fun until somebody blows out a knee..

Chris and Jeannie had their annual volleyball party on Saturday. The weather was the best it's ever been, the kids were having lots of fun playing, the rockets were launched, the food was great and we even got in a few games of volleyball. Of course all my fun came to an end when I was running to bump a volleyball and the next thing I knew, I was lying on the ground in major pain. I was carried off the court to a lawn chair by the fire and swiftly brought a frozen bag of peas. We left shortly thereafter.

On Sunday morning I went to emerg and waited 2.5 hours to be told to apply ice and advil. Mitchell took this picture of my knees in the afternoon. Neither of them looks that great :) - can you figure out which one is deformed by injury??

Daycare and Dirt

Our children seem to be the dirtiest ones at daycare by the end of the day. I'll try to take comfort from the hope that they must be having a lot of fun all day to come home so dirty. However, it eliminates running errands right after picking them. Here is Derek after a particularily "fun" day at daycare.

Cookie Cookie Ya Ya Ya

Went to Mom and Dad's trailer on Saturday with the boys while Scott was at a golf tournament. The kids had a lot of fun, and I snuck in a nap as I "had" to lay down with Derek so he wouldn't roll off the bed. Dad taught Derek this adorable little chant about cookies - cookie, cookie, ya, ya , ya, which we now also hear for babas. Mitchell was focussed on fishing and had a successful day, even after totally tangling up Dad's fishing pole.

garden of inflatables

Last weekend we went to the "car party" as Mitchell called it. The highlight for Mitchell was the "garden of inflatables". He hopped, bounced, fell and slid away to his heart's content.

Derek was not as impressed since we had him tied up in the stroller. He's getting less and less content in there.

They both got these great balloon creations from a clown. Mitchell was pretty scared of her, but his desire for balloon weaponry (the kid before us got a balloon gun) got the better of him.

... and despite not getting to bounce around with the other kids, Derek got wore out...
